Ignatieff loses ground, Dion gains momentum

This is fantastic news. Now the question is: who will the delegates go to on the second ballot from the bottom four, especially Dryden and Brison?

As the BCer in Toronto puts it;

Stephane in third place, even if only by a scant four votes, wow! Yess!! Lots of happy Dion supporters here right now. Gerard's people had been spinning they'd be in third with a comfortable margin, this has to be very demoralizing for them tonight. Second ballot will tell the tale as this is far from over, but with these results, the Allan Rock endorsement and a great speech tonight, I am a very optimistic, enthusiastic and happy Dionista tonight!

Well said, and who said Martha Hall-Finley couldn't make a difference in this race. Her 130 delegates could decide who moves forward to ultimately challenge Ignatieff. Wow! This thing is just getting started!! See you @ 9:00 a.m.!!

How did Iggy lose ground? He got exactly what the DSMs said he would.

With all of the spin about bleeding, you would have thought he'd be lower.

Iggy and Rae both have lost ground terribly, Iggy underperformed on the first ballot and that scarlet letter is pinned on him, follow that up with Rae's french-less address to delegates and they are going to have a rough ride.

Don't worry Ted, he will go lower.

When Bob Rae wins, where will he run in a by-election to get into the House? My guess: Etobicoke-Lakeshore.

For the love of god just anybody but Ignatieff.

The blood-letting for Iggy begins on the second ballot, though in the loss of anticipated ex-officio votes one can see more than a trickle of of the red stuff.

cerberus,

You can't possibly spin the fact that Iggy is below 30% as a victory? He's done. Are you guys interested in wearing a Dion button?? lol

Iggy and Rae are both in trouble.

I think this convention is going to shape up to be Dion's and Kennedy's to win.

Maybe. But I think if Dryden stays on the ballot for at least three rounds, then I think he will end up being the ultimate kingmaker in this race.

I know he likes Kennedy's stance on Quebec, but even he knows, as a longtime native of that province, that you have to be able to speak french in order to truely connect with les Quebecois. I think he and Brison are well aware of that huge fact [liability] as experienced MPs in the HoC.
